What is IOP? Combining Structure with Flexibility
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers invaluable structure and support for those in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, as well as co-occurring trauma and mental health challenges.
It can work as a step down from residential treatment or Partial Hospitalization (PHP), or as a step up from typical outpatient therapy. IOP helps individuals in recovery maintain ongoing sobriety while retaining independence.
Typically, intensive outpatient programs often combine individual counseling, group therapy, medication management, relapse prevention, coping skills workshops, and integrated wellness to support whole-person healing.
IOPs are an ideal option if you have a busy work schedule, have kids at home, or a sick family member to take care of, or an income you can’t afford to lose or reduce.
Our Phased Approach to Intensive Outpatient Care
AnchorPoint supports men in their recovery journey by coordinating with our partner program, Holdfast Recovery, to offer a flexible two-phase IOP that adapts to each individual’s needs. This encourages progress at a comfortable pace, with the option to step up or down in care level as needed.
IOP 5
IOP level 5 is our highest level of intensive outpatient care, providing five days a week of focused, three-hour sessions designed for those who need more structure and support.
IOP 3
When ready, clients can step down to IOP 3, attending three days a week for three hours, allowing more independence while maintaining therapeutic engagement.
What To Expect from Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Purposefully designed to meet men where they are, balancing the demands of daily life with a deep commitment to healing through faith, science, and community.
Evidence-Based Therapies
Therapies such as CBT and DBT help identify harmful patterns, develop emotional regulation, and build healthier coping strategies grounded in truth and grace. EMDR targets the impact of trauma, rewiring painful memories for spiritual and psychological renewal.
Christ-Centered Care
Every step of the program is guided by a Christ-centered framework that emphasizes transformation, not just symptom relief. Men are invited to surrender old wounds and embrace a life of purpose and power that strengthens character and encourages spiritual discipline.
Trauma-Informed Staff
Our staff acknowledges the unique challenges men face in confronting past wounds, especially when societal expectations discourage vulnerability. We help men build physical and emotional strength with trauma therapy and guided exercises to reclaim their stories.
Flexible Schedules
Designed for busy professionals seeking recovery without disrupting their demanding lives. Flexible treatment schedules blend faith, fitness, and focused therapy to support lasting transformation on your terms.
Equine-Assisted Therapy
Trust, strength, and resilience are built on the back of horses in the Arizona outdoors. Equine Therapy helps men develop communication skills, build emotional awareness, and gain understanding of interpersonal boundaries in a powerful, nonverbal way.
Brotherhood and Accountability
Brotherhood is the lifeline of recovery here at AnchorPoint. Men find strength in spiritual fraternity through 12-step Programs, NA, AA, and Bible study groups. This community offers encouragement, wisdom, and accountability.
Family Therapy and Attachment Work
Our family therapy offers men practical tools rooted in attachment-based therapy to repair and renew relationships damaged by addiction. Clients learn how to communicate honestly and set healthy boundaries, empowering them to become leaders and providers of love and stability.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
We partner with licensed medical providers to offer MAT, a safe approach to managing opioid dependency and cravings. While we do not prescribe methadone, if you’re currently on it, we can coordinate seamless care to help with a tapering schedule.
Transformative IOP Therapy For Sustained Recovery with Faith
Every step of our program is built on the foundation of Neurofaith™, a holistic healing model that integrates neuroscience with Christ-centered, spiritual renewal to meet you where you are.
Polyvagal Informed Therapy
This teaches clients how to recognize and regulate their nervous system responses, breaking free from the patterns of deep-rooted fear and hypervigilance often stemming from trauma and contributing to addiction.t
HeartMath™ Techniques
Practical skills to manage stress and emotions through heart-centered breathing and coherence exercises. These foster spiritual and emotional balance by helping men align their heart and mind, foundational for walking in faith and overcoming addiction.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS offers a powerful framework for men to rebuild broken internal “parts” fractured by trauma and move past feelings of guilt and shame. This can help them reclaim identity through spiritual growth and break the chains of addiction.
Sociometrics
Experiential tools to build authentic brotherhood, foster trust, connection, and emotional safety within the group. Through exercises rooted in relational experiences, men learn new ways to support one another, reflecting the biblical call to bear one another’s burdens.

After years of struggling with substance abuse and deep-rooted trauma, my loved one was lost, hopeless, and disconnected from both himself and God. AnchorPoint not only helped him find recovery, but also led him back to faith and a completely new way of living. The compassion, patience, and dedication of the team is unlike anything we’ve experienced. They didn’t just treat symptoms, they helped him heal from the inside out. Today he’s thriving, living a healthy spiritually grounded lifestyle. We are forever grateful for the role AnchorPoint played in this transformation.
