Rehab packing list

Pack light for the trip to Arizona. Laundry is on site, so about a week of clothes is enough, and the rest of what to bring to rehab fits in one duffel. Pack it in ten minutes, and have someone at home check it against this list before your month at AnchorPoint.

  • ID and insurance card
  • Prescriptions in original bottles, plus a list of doses
  • Phone and charger
  • About a week of clothes
  • Layers and a warm jacket

One bag is enough
  • Hiking shoes and gym clothes
  • Alcohol-free toiletries
  • A few photos, a journal, a book
  • Numbers for family and your doctor

Can you have your phone in rehab?

You keep your phone here. You can still call home, and the people who count on you can still reach you. The one rule: it stays second to the work you came to do.

Pack the charger. And write down the numbers for your family and your doctor, on paper too, in case the phone dies.

Yes. You keep your phone and charger at AnchorPoint, so you can call home and the people who count on you can still reach you. Laptops are allowed on the same terms. The one rule is that the phone stays second to the work you came to do. Write family and doctor numbers on paper too, in case the battery dies.

Yes, laundry is on site, so about a week of clothes is enough. Pack layers rather than a lot of outfits: T-shirts for warm days, a layer for cool mornings and evenings, and a warm jacket. Everything should fit in one duffel bag.

Yes. Bring every prescription you take in its original labeled bottle, with your name on it, plus a written list of what you take, how much and when. That way the medical team can see what you’re on from the start. If you’re on Suboxone or methadone, it continues, coordinated with your provider.

Ask admissions on the call. They’ll tell you the current house rules on cigarettes and vapes before you pack, so everything in your bag is cleared to come in with you. It’s a good question to add to your list for the first call, along with your medications.

Hiking shoes or boots, and gym clothes. The week at AnchorPoint includes the outdoors and the gym, so pack shoes you can hike in and something to train in. Add whatever you’re comfortable wearing around the house.

We’ll sort it out once you’re here. Come on your arrival date, even if something is missing from the bag. If it’s something important, like a prescription or your ID, tell admissions before you travel so they can help you plan for it.

Leave alcohol and drugs at home, along with anything that has alcohol in it, like mouthwash and some colognes. Weapons of any kind, medications prescribed to someone else, large amounts of cash or valuables, and outside food and energy drinks also stay behind. These rules keep the house safe for every man in it.

About a week of clothes, in layers. The house sits about 5,400 feet up, so days can be warm while mornings and nights are cool, and some winters bring snow. Pack T-shirts, a layer for mornings and evenings, a warm jacket, gym clothes, and hiking shoes or boots, whatever month you come.

Bring your usual toiletries in alcohol-free versions. Mouthwash and some colognes contain alcohol, so choose ones without it or leave them at home. If you’re unsure about an item, ask admissions on the call and they’ll tell you before you pack.

Your ID and insurance card, plus contact numbers for your family and your doctor, written down. Bring a list of your medication doses too. A few photos, a journal and a book are worth packing as well, for the evenings.
