How does exercise help addiction recovery?
Fitness in addiction recovery gives stress somewhere to go, helps sleep come back and builds a daily routine, which supports meth recovery and depression treatment, and at AnchorPoint the gym is open every day.
Every level welcome. The routine goes into your plan for after residential treatment for men, before day 30.

Reviews from men at AnchorPoint
- Brett H.May 2026
“Anchor Point Recovery helped me through one of the hardest times in my life. The staff treated me like a real person, not just another client, and that made a huge difference. Everyone was supportive, easy to talk to, and genuinely cared about my progress. The environment felt safe and positive, and I always felt like people wanted to see me do better. I’m really grateful for the experience and would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing help.”
- Jacoury H.September 2026
“First, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for all staff involved in my recovery here at Anchor Point! I didn’t feel like a client but more like extended family that ofcoarse had my best interest at heart! Allowing my faith to freely be apart of my process was a vital part and again I’m grateful!”
- John B.June 2026
“Anchor Point is a faith based recovery program that does an amazing job helping addicts and those with mental health concerns over come their issues. If you want to strengthen your relationship with God and get help, I recommend Anchor Point. It is great program. The facility is clean and comfortable. The staff are caring and helpful. Fitness in recovery FAQ
- Training gives stress somewhere to go, helps with sleep and gives you a routine to show up for. At AnchorPoint the gym is part of every week in residential treatment, and what comes up there gets talked through in group like everything else. The focus is sleep, stress and a routine you can keep.
- Every level is welcome, and you start where you are. Whether you trained for years or it’s been a long time since you lifted anything, staff meet you at your level and you build from there, a little more each week.
- Yes. The gym is in the house, and it’s open to you every day. It has a weight rack, a cable machine, a treadmill and an elliptical, and group meets in the same room too. The trails outside are there as well.
- Strength work and cardio in the gym, plus hiking on the trails around the house, both part of the weekly schedule. You train at your own level, and you measure yourself against your own last week.
- Time in the gym is part of the week in residential treatment, alongside group, one-on-one therapy and 12-step meetings. You go at your own level, and staff meet you where you are. If an injury or a health condition limits what you can do, tell admissions when you call.
- Yes. Staff meet you where you are, and you start with what your body can do today. Each week you show up and build a little more. You set the pace with staff beside you.
- Yes. The routine you build here goes into your plan for after AnchorPoint, set up before day 30. Week one you start where you are, and by week four it’s a routine you can take home. Read more about the plan for after AnchorPoint.
- The gym is one of four things on the weekly schedule. You also hike in the pines and granite around the house, do ground-based work with horses, and go on outings off site. All of it is staff-led and part of adventure therapy at AnchorPoint.
- Yes. AnchorPoint partners with CrossFit for classes and personal training, alongside daily access to the gym in the house and regular strength training. You train at your own level, with coaching when you want it.
- Yes. A licensed nutritionist is part of the program, and meals are catered by a professional catering company and eaten together. If you have a food allergy or a diet you follow, tell admissions when you call, while you plan what to bring.
- Exercise works best alongside therapy. In residential treatment at AnchorPoint the gym sits in the same week as group, one-on-one therapy, 12-step meetings and medical care, and what comes up in training gets talked through in group.
