Prescription drugs we treat: opioids, benzos and stimulants

Most men here didn’t start on a street corner. A doctor wrote it, for a real reason, and somewhere along the way the bottle started running the day. That happens to a lot of men. There’s no shame in it, and there’s a way out. Pills are one of several addictions we treat.

Benzodiazepine withdrawal: taper safely with medical care

Stopping benzos suddenly can be dangerous. That goes for Xanax, Klonopin, Valium and the rest. A medical taper or detox comes first, somewhere that does it, and once you’re cleared we pick you up for benzodiazepine addiction treatment.

Wondering whether you need a taper? Call before you change anything. Admissions talks it through with you and helps you find the right place to start.

The pills were doing a job: easing the pain, quieting the anxiety, keeping you sharp, putting you to sleep. Take them away and the job is still there. Here your medical team works on what the pills were covering, and your therapist works on what’s under it.

You leave with answers. Before day 30, you and your team settle who prescribes next, what changes and where you go from here. If you’re on MAT for painkillers, that’s in the plan too, and your wife sees it if you want her to.

Prescription drug rehab FAQ

Still have a question? (928) 377-5230

Yes. Addiction can start with a prescription. A lot of men started with pills a doctor wrote for a real reason, like pain, anxiety, focus or sleep, and somewhere along the way the bottle started running the day. There’s no shame in it, and there’s a way out.

Taper safely with medical care instead. Stopping benzos suddenly can be dangerous, whether it’s Xanax, Klonopin, Valium or another one. A medical taper or detox comes first, somewhere that does it. Call before you change anything, and admissions helps you find the right place to start.

The taper or detox comes first, at a program that does it, with medical care, and then residential treatment begins here. Once you’re cleared, we pick you up and bring you to the house, and admissions can line that up while you’re still in detox.

Your pain gets talked about honestly, and your medical team works on it with you: our medical director, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and 24/7 nursing. If you’re on Suboxone or methadone for painkillers, it comes in with you and continues. Your therapist works on what’s under the pain and the pills.

Yes. Stimulants taken for work or focus are one of the three kinds of pills treated here, along with painkillers and benzos. The first weeks are about real sleep, real meals and a day that runs on routine. Your medical team and therapist work on the focus problems the pills were covering.

Then the anxiety gets treated here too. The pills were doing a job, and that job is still there once they’re gone. Your medical team works on the anxiety, pain, focus or sleep problems the pills were covering, and your therapist works on what’s under them.

About 30 days, sometimes 45. How long you stay depends on how the work is going and what your insurance authorizes, and your team talks it through with you as you go. Before day 30, your next step is planned, including who prescribes for you next.

That gets settled before day 30, as part of your next step. You and your team agree who prescribes next, what changes at home and where you go from here, and it’s written down. If you’re on MAT for painkillers, that goes in the plan too.

If the bottle runs your day, you’ve tried to cut down and couldn’t, or you’ve started buying pills outside a pharmacy, it’s time to talk to someone. Admissions can talk it through with you, with no pressure.

Then they may not be what they look like. Counterfeit pills are pressed to look like Xanax, Percocet, Adderall or oxycodone and can contain fentanyl. Tell admissions what you’ve been taking.

Yes. Call as you are, before you change anything. Admissions helps you find a program that does the taper or detox, lines up your place here while you’re there, and arranges your pickup once you’re cleared.

Often, yes, but it depends on your plan. We check your benefits for free, including out-of-network, and tell you plainly what your plan means. For Medicare or Medicaid (AHCCCS), admissions can help find a program that takes them.
